WASHINGTON - Today, in keeping with its commitment to hold inaugural events that celebrate our common values and reflect the diversity and history of our great nation, President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden's Inaugural Committee officially extended an offer to Special Olympics to march in the 56th Inaugural Parade. Special Olympics athletes, volunteers and supporters will join representatives from across the country and our Armed Forces in the historic parade down Pennsylvania Avenue following President-elect Obama's swearing-in ceremony on the steps of the Capitol.
"I am honored to invite these talented groups and individuals to participate in the Inaugural Parade," said President-elect Obama. "These organizations embody the best of our nation's history, diversity and commitment to service. Vice President-elect Biden and I are proud to have them join us in the parade."
Organizations wishing to participate in the parade submitted an application to the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee (AFIC), which then assisted the Presidential Inaugural Committee in reviewing all of the groups' applications. All told, 1,382 organizations applied to participate, setting a new standard for interest in marching in the parade.
Upon hearing its selection, Special Olympics made the Inaugural Parade part of its Global Law Enforcement Torch Run(r) and the parade participants, a team of Special Olympics athletes, law enforcement officials who serve as guardians of the flame, and other supporters will carry the Flame of Hope for all to see.
Since November 24, 2008, the Flame of Hope has traveled more than 30,000 miles around the world stopping on each continent to deliver a message of spirit and hope to communities where people with intellectual disabilities continue to fight for acceptance and a chance to excel without barriers.
After the Inaugural Parade, the Flame of Hope will continue across America until it reaches Boise, Idaho, where it will be used to ignite the cauldron at the Opening Ceremonies for the Special Olympics World Winter Games that will take place from February 7-13, 2009.
Special Olympics is an international nonprofit organization and global movement dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition. Special Olympics offers year-round training and competition in 30 Olympic-type summer and winter sports to more than 2.8 million individuals with intellectual disabilities worldwide.
All participants in the Inaugural Parade are responsible for paying for their own lodging and transportation to and from Washington, D.C. The Committee has been working closely with area governments and civic organizations to facilitate access to affordable accommodations and would like to encourage citizens from across the country to reach out and help Special Olympics raise the necessary resources to participate in this historic event.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee was assisted in its selection process by a group of experienced military musicians, who utilized their expertise to help assess the presentation skills of marching bands, musical acts and drill teams.

New PIC Internet Tool Underscores Unmatched Commitment to TransparencyCommittee Website Features a Searchable, Virtually Real-Time Database of Donors and Bundlers
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, in keeping with President-elect Obama's commitment to changing the way business is done in Washington, the Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) announced unprecedented standards of transparency in the public reporting of donors to a presidential inaugural committee.
"The disclosure guidelines we've released today set a new standard for openness for a Presidential Inaugural Committee," said John W. Rogers, Jr., Co-Chair of the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Committee. "This tool demonstrates the new administration's commitment to changing business-as-usual in Washington, DC."
Co-Chair Penny Pritzker added that, "From the beginning, we've said we're going to plan the most open and accessible inauguration in history and that includes using 21st century technology to give the American people access to information about donors to our committee."For the first time, an inaugural committee's donor disclosure efforts will include a searchable, sortable, virtually real-time database of donors, available on the PIC website. Any citizen will be able to search for and sort donors who give more than $200 by name, employer, or hometown (city, state and zip code). Information on donors and donations will be updated regularly, with information on each new donation over $200 appearing online within 48 hours of its receipt. The PIC website also includes, for the first time, information on donors who bundle contributions for the inaugural committee, including the amount they have bundled, which will be capped at $300,000 for individual bundlers. The measures announced today are more stringent than federal law or the Federal Election Commission require. Under current law, an inaugural committee is not required to report donors until 90 days after the Inauguration, nor are donors to an inaugural committee required to disclose their employer when making a donation. These new guidelines arrive on top of previously announced and unprecedented limitations on the PIC's fundraising policies. Unlike previous inaugural committees, the 2009 PIC will not accept contributions from corporations, political action committees, labor unions, current federally-registered lobbyists, non-U.S. citizens and registered foreign agents and will not accept individual contributions in excess of $50,000. Current law does not restrict the size of donations, which in past inaugurations have reached as high as $250,000.The new database is available to the general public at pic2009.org/donors.For the latest information on the 2009 Presidential Inauguration, please visit pic2009.org.

Senators Feinstein and Bennett Urge DC Government To Reverse Emergency Alcohol Law
WASHINGTON, DC / Senator Dianne Feinstein, Chairman of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC), and Senator Bob Bennett, Member of the JCCIC and Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, today urged the Mayor and City Council of Washington, DC to reverse the emergency legislation passed last week to allow bars and restaurants to sell alcohol until 5 am during the week of the inauguration.
“We have reached out to Mayor Fenty and Council Chairman Vincent Gray because of our grave concerns about the unintended consequences of this legislation,” said Senator Feinstein.
“What is clearly meant as a boon to local businesses may instead create tremendous problems for already overwhelmed law enforcement agencies.”
“Security needs to be the number one priority during the Inaugural ceremonies and extending the sale of alcohol until 5 am in DC will only divert law enforcement resources away from their primary focus on security measures and crowd safety,” said Senator Bennett.
Text of the JCCIC Letter
Dear Mayor Fenty and Council Chairman Gray: We are writing today to urge that City Council and the Mayor reverse emergency legislation approved by the Council last week that permits nightclubs, bars and restaurants to sell alcoholic beverages until 5 a.m. for four nights during the Inauguration of Barack Obama as our 44th President. With projections as high as 4 million people planning to visit the city during this time period, we are deeply concerned that the plan approved by the City Council could seriously strain law enforcement resources that need to be focused on the large crowds and security requirements of the Inaugural and its impact on the City. There is great cause for celebration at this historic event. But we believe that the benefits of this emergency legislation, passed with little public notice, are far outweighed by its possible consequences. We understand the pressures you face from the different constituencies in your city. But we also know the importance of standing firm to ensure the safety of residents, workers and visitors who will be in Washington, D.C., participating in this historic event.” Sincerely, Robert F Bennett and Dianne Feinstein

That's right I've been supporter since the beggining. And tonight of all nights hope conquers cyncism. I saw the impossible happen. Motivated by the sheer idea that All americans can succeed in America, that idea now cemented in a reality that is now fact. It was really a war of fear versus hope, wasn't it. I am glad there are many Americans who could see that. I was amazed at the incredibe grateful and eloquent speech given by John McCain. I will give him credit for making probably the best concession speech of all time.
Now it's time for next impossible project. That's right president elect Obama, it's time to put me on in your executive committee. I can be the secretary of the people. The voice of the people that has a seat in the oval office. The voice that speak not in politics, but of those of the citizen.
This is a question I believe is critical to be examined by the good guys. While other issues are definitely important, I can't imagine one more important to the good guys of the nation as saving our children from insidious abuse.
Rather than reiterate what has already been written on this topic, please visit the blog The Dirtiest Secret Behind Child Abuse and read The Biggest Deception of All Time. An excellent website for survivors of long-term childhood abuse, including those with "cult" memories, is examining this question now. Please visit Blooming Lotus.
I would ask the Obama administration to appoint a committee to investigate so the nation no longer looks the other way when survivors recall "cult" memories. Instead, get the posse together and go after the pedophiles charading as followers of whatever terrifies the abused children into submission. There is no shortage of adult survivors waiting to be heard on this matter.
YouTube Video Here: Thanks to you, impeachment will be heard Friday,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rv478I8p3e8. (Yes, it's from Kucinich 2008, but the fact that he is going to actually discuss the Impeachment Articles is newsworthy.)
Take a look!
What do you think?

The Hillary campaign has now resorted to rounding up high dollar donors and cajoling them to participate in a truly shameless strategy. HRC donors are demanding that the DNC seat the Florida delegates, or else they want the DNC to return all of their donations. Some will accept a re-vote, others are demanding that the delegates be seated as-is.
This is not a small thing (well, the behavior is small, but the donations are not). We're talking about high dollar donors. And we're talking about donations to the DNC. Think about this for a second. The DNC is supposed to be an organization that represents all of the democrats, and these donations are supposed to support all Democrats -- not just HRC. Yet, they are demanding that the DNC break its own rules in favor of HRC, "or else" they want a refund.
Dear friends,
Today the public debut of the first italian committee for Barack Obama I promoted the last March, 31. The event will be covered by a one hour direct broadcast on Radio and TV (Radio Città Futura and NessunoTV - SKYtv).
With me, they will attend to the event: Anthony Sistilli (Democrats Abroad - Italy); Jeff Israeli (Correspondent of Time Magazine), Guido Moltedo and Marilisa Palumbo (Authors of the first Obama Biografy in Italian).
Special guest the african musician Pape Sirman Kanouté (Mandingo sound). This is absolutely a Première and it will increase the Obamamania in Italy.
A cosmopolitan audience of 300 Obama's Fans is expected. I'm so excited and my emotion is at the top. So I would like to share my emotion.
