Sometimes it’s tough to get people to come for a holiday party this close to Christmas. But yesterday, households in Derry and New Hampton offered party-goers an unbeatable incentive: the chance to meet the next President of the United States.
With snow falling quicky and deeply, cars lined the sides of residential streets for blocks as nearly 200 voters crowded into living rooms to meet Barack face-to-face and learn more about his vision for change.
As the crowds warmed up after making the winter trek, Barack explained his reasons for running this year, citing Dr. Martin Luther King’s notion of the “fierce urgency of now.” He said:
People of all walks of life are looking for something different, and are open to a new direction. I believe that our politics is up for grabs right now and that we can do better than the same old political textbook.
Undecided voters made up the bulk of the party-goers in Derry and North Hampton, and Barack made his case the New Hampshire way, on a person-to-person basis.
