I was stunned to learn of Obama's Nobel. He earned it. Congratulations, Sir!

I read a story on CNN which surprised me greatly, see http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/09/07/laura.bush/index.html.
The former first Lady says that Obama has been doing a good job, but has much on his plate. This is the most gracious thing any Republican has had to say in some time. I congratulate her for her openness, and perhaps even wisdom?
Cheers, Mrs. Bush! May you be as great a former first Lady as was your Mother-in-Law.

For true reform, public plan needed
We need a public health insurance option to improve availability, increase choice, and control costs, which are an unbearable burden on our businesses, families, and economy. Opponents claiming that a public option is "socialized medicine" or "puts the government between you and your doctor" are ignoring two facts. A public option (1) is being proposed in addition to existing insurance options and (2) is no different than private insurance companies that have been getting between you and your doctor for decades. For true reform, we need a public plan that rewards disease prevention rather than revenue generation from disease treatment.

Baghdad PUPS & K9- Bomb Sniffing Training
Since stray dogs in Iraq, Pakistan & Afghanistan are being killed every day, then there might be a solution to save these DOGS & many people as well in those countries. Perhaps we could ask the US and local Armies to train quite a few of them to become trained K9 Bomb sniffing. Then they could be freed every morning and evening on two different shifts and sent to crowded places, watched by under cover personnel, and asked to come back to their special kennels after every shift and then the evening shift would take over. These K9 dogs would have a collar to show they are army dogs so nobody should harm them...If some one would want to harm them then that person (he/she) would be mal intentioned and would be arrested. These K9 Bomb Detecting/Sniffing Dogs (K9BD2) would every day & night roam about in crowds and pick would be suicide bombers and bark at them to alert the security personnel as well as potential targets. Under the Islamic Law guard dogs such as sheep dogs are permitted.

Today the real work begins. President Obama has called on us to rebuild our great nation. Bringing a large, populous, wealthy nation to the next level is our task. We must not be overcome, for the hour is late and time is short. Until campaign season in 2012, we are on a new mission: to achieve our destiny as individuals, as communities, as a nation, and as a world. We are all one people today, but the road ahead will be long and arduous.
Cincinnati Obama 2008 is becoming Cincinnati Supports Our President. I invite mailing list members to create a forum for discussing local solutions to the many problems we face. God bless President Obama, and God bless America!
Not too many countries have been able to overcome their past prejudices and CHANGE course for the better when needed. Perhaps globally a few countries have been able to do so! And now the good old USA is certainly one of those countries.
President Obama is not only a very popular US president with 80% approval rating nationwide, but he is the most popular leader worldwide. With this kind of intercontinental popularity under the grace of GOD there is responsibility as well. Thankfully President Obama is a very knowledgeable and responsible leader. I am sure that if he keeps his campaign promises, then history will judge him as another President Lincoln God Bless his soul. After eight years of division, distance and resentment, people of the world are looking up to the USA again and their hopes for a better life are running high. Let us NOT disappoint them and help the Honest and Objective Peace and Economic (H.O.P.E.) leader President Obama succeed. All of us in the world could help the HOPE leader succeed in bringing peace and prosperity to the US and the rest of the world by:
1- Not calling others names;
2- Listening to the other side;
3- Putting ourselves in the other side’s shoes;
4- Analyzing what the other side’s legitimate needs and concerns are and being compromising;
5- Working actively towards peace and prosperity NOT only for ourselves but for the rest of the world as well. This is best described in a UN poem: “Children of Adam are members of the same family, and partners of each other. Why some would wonder? Because each one of us is created exactly with the same soul as the other! If one is in pain, then others should also complain.”
I want to thank everyone for their energy, commitment, and unrelenting support of this historic campaign.
Team Hyde Park totally rocks, and the crew of field organizers and volunteers at the Madison Rd HQ was truly matchless.
It has been an honor and a privilege to participate in a new social movement. Our work has just begun!
The longest political campaign ever -- ever! -- is finally at a close. Today we close the gap between Hope and Change when we go to the polls and Vote. This is not only our right, it is our duty to ourselves, our families, our communities, our great nation, and our evolving world. Tomorrow is the dawning of a new era -- and a new age of America. Today we vote, on the first day of the rest of our lives.
God Bless America,
Paul/Qaliqo
TODAY is Day 4 of the 7 days when Ohio voters can REGISTER AND VOTE IN ONE STOP!
Still not registered? You can use VoteForChange.com to get registered, or kill two birds with one stone- find your Early Vote Location, go there, and register and vote, all at once!
HOW: Step 1 - Get registered
Here is Max Kennedy, son of the late Bobby Kennedy, meeting with a group of Bowing Green students after they registered voters on campus.
HOW: Step 2 - Vote early
One organizer, Kristen, in Dayton, gives this touching account of an early voting experience:
Yesterday I took some people to the polls and one of the women voting was unable to walk. She did not have a wheelchair and started walking up the stairs, but she was in too much pain to continue. We then got a wheelchair for her and had to carry her down the stairs in the chair, over to the ramp. This photo is of our volunteers, staff and people off the streets carrying her down the stairs so she can vote. While she was waiting to vote, tears were streaming down her face and the board of elections staff asked her if she wanted to go home and she said the only thing that will keep her from voting for Barack Obama is death and she would still find a way to vote for him if that was the case.
WHY: Because this election is too important. A letter to the editor in the Ironton Tribune connects the potential of an Obama-Biden administration to the legacy of Max's own father and uncle:
America, the noble heart of compassion, which rivaled “Camelot,” in the glory days of “might for right,” has tarnished its luster through eight years of Republican/corporate rule...There is great insanity in pursuing the course of destruction over peace and prosperity... A new direction is offered us by a leader who believes that we have an obligation together to work and plan for the world as it should be. Help restore the America that the world once believed in. Vote for Change. Vote Obama-Biden.

Vote for Change. Vote Obama-Biden.
And why not do it early?
The last twenty-four hours have seen a flurry of activity in the Buckeye state, as Ohioans celebrated and then acted on their chance to cast their vote for Barack Obama a full five weeks before Election Day.
It started with sleepovers outside of County Boards of Elections (in most cases, your location for early voting) last night--people were just that excited about voting early. Nowhere was this more true than at the Veterans Memorial in Columbus, where a group of about 30 indefatigable supporters from the Ohio State University ate pizza, danced into the night, and camped out in tents to be some of the first to vote for Barack.
Click HERE to see video of the sleepover, where students explain how easy it is to vote early, on our Early Vote location webpage.
However, the grand prize goes to Chris, a volunteer in Montgomery County, who due to his county's early voting hours holds the distinct honor of being the first person in all of Ohio to cast his ballot in the 2008 Presidential Election. Only with a candidate like Barack, in a movement like this, could you find such proud and enthusiastic supporters.
Finally, way down in Chillicothe, a group of volunteers and supporters gathered early this morning for coffee and then crossed (or perhaps marched) across the street to cast their vote as a group.
It feels good to vote for Barack. It feels even better to do it early. Click HERE to find out where you go.

Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen will campaign for Senator Barack Obama at a series of events across Southeast Ohio on Thursday and Friday, emphasizing Barack's commitment to the struggles of ordinary people, in light of the recent revelation that John McCain can't remember how many homes he owns. (The answer is seven, as highlighted in this new ad from the Obama campaign).
On Thursday, Gov. Bredesen will hold town hall forums to discuss Obama’s plan to improve the economy and help Ohio’s rural communities in St. Clairsville and Marietta, and deliver remarks at the grand opening of Obama’s Ohio for Change Campaign office in Zanesville. Issues like rural needs and the economy are what matter to Senator Obama, who with his modest origins would never lose touch with the plight of everyday Americans.
On Friday, Gov. Bredesen will join Chillicothe Mayor Joe Sulzer for a breakfast with community members, host a conversation with local leaders on economic development in Ironton and hold a town hall in Portsmouth. Below are details, with links to news stories about the events!

Today, the state of Ohio lost a true leader and fighter, with the sudden death of Representative Stephanie Tubbs Jones. She broke through barriers to become the first African-American woman from Ohio elected to Congress, and served proudly as a voice for numerous Ohioans. Just last week she spoke as part of a Register for Change event in Shaker Heights.
The Obama campaign released the following statement:
It's hard to open a newspaper in Ohio without coming across a story about how ubiquitous the Obama field team is here. Every day it seems like there's a new office opening in some far-off, traditionally conservative part of the state whose progressive citizens have been brought back to political life by Barack's candidacy. Just yesterday there was one in Woodlawn, today there was one in Port Clinton, and tomorrow there is another in Licking County.
Marion also welcomed 65 local supporters into a brand new office, which they more than deserved after their amazing voter outreach effort during the Birthday for Barack phone bank. A picture from the opening is below:
Ted Strickland had already spoken at three office openings, in Lima, Chillicothe, and Athens... but he wasn't done. This past Saturday he helped open the Campaign for Change doors in Trumbull County; the story is available here. (Trumbull County also happens to be home to the barn featured in our Barns for Obama video).
And that's just the start. Look for word of openings in Columbus, Defiance, Mt. Vernon, and Youngstown, and special events in St. Clairsville, Marietta, Chillicothe, Ironton, and Portsmouth (plus a special opening in Zanesville) featuring a very special guest...
With all this grass-roots activity it's no wonder that an Ohio resident left the following comment on Jack Cafferty's blog--which ended up being featured on Cafferty's TV show earlier tonight!:
Anyone who has driven through Ohio and glanced at a couple license plates knows that the Buckeye State is the renowned "Birthplace of Aviation"--the Wright brothers and space pioneer (and former Senator) John Glenn are famous natives of the state.
And John Glenn himself recently endowed Barack's campaign with his Ohio born-and-bred space expertise, by advocating for Senator Obama's NASA platform. The Dayton Daily News carries the story:
Former Sen. John Glenn, D-Ohio, spent part of his Sunday afternoon stumping for Sen. Barack Obama’s space agenda. On a conference call with reporters, Glenn backed Obama’s plans for NASA, saying Obama’s plans represent a reversal from funding cuts during the Bush administration. “I’m looking forward to working very closely with Barack Obama after he’s president,” said Glenn, adding he hopes that Obama adds more than the one shuttle flight per year he’s committed to in his space plan. If elected, Obama said he would: - Re-enact the National Aeronautics and Space Council to oversee and coordinate the civilian, commercial and military space programs and report to the president. - Go to the moon by 2020 as a precursor to going to Mars. - Add another shuttle flight to help accelerate the development of the next generation space vehicle. - Complete and enhance the International Space Station so it can host the innovative scientific and technological research projects it was intended to facilitate. - Emphasize NASA research to study climate change and advance aeronautics research. - Expand public/private partnerships to develop new technolgoy - Expanded education. Glenn was the first American to orbit the earth when he piloted the Friendship 7 around the earth in 1962. He served in the U.S. Senate from 1974 to 1997.

Barack's campaign was launched in the heartland of Iowa, where his attention to rural issues helped earn him a caucus win there. Now, the movement continues to thrive in the heartland of Ohio, with programs like Barns for Obama and roundtable discussions with rural community leaders and citizens.
In Utica recently, Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa kicked off the Rural Roundtable Discussions, which aim to underscore the economic challenges in rural Ohio and rural America. Senator Harkin, who is Chairman of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee spoke to locals at an implement (tractor) dealership owned by David and Tim, who also operate a dairy and crop farm. Here are some pictures from the event:
Senator Harkin drove home that Barack Obama understands rural Ohio and that his plan for America prioritizes addressing the unique issues that face communities such as Utica. He has a record that proves he will fight for farmers, ranchers, and small business owners. At the discussion, locals shared stories of serving their communities and the need for better access to health care, affordable energy, and quality education, in addition to the basic necessities such as transportation and food.
In sum, Senator Harkin said it best, in voicing his support for Barack:
I’ve lived all my life in rural America. I’m here to bear witness to the fact that Barack Obama gets rural America.
Check out this link to a wonderful article in today's Enquirer about Eric and Jan-Michele Kearney. Makes me so proud to live in Cincinnati and have the honor of working with great people like this on the most historic campaign of my lifetime!

Ever since June, dedicated volunteers have been hitting the doors and the phones on behalf of Barack in the general election. Through events like Unite for Change parties, and Women to Women meetings, former Hillary supporters have smoothly transitioned to become an integral part of our effort, and they bring a drive and dedication to changing this country that is truly admirable.
Some have even stepped up to become leaders. An organizer describes one such amazing woman, Robin, in Toledo:
Robin was a huge supporter of Senator Clinton in the primaries, travelling to four states, working, in her words, "thousands of hours," to make the change we need in this country. After the primaries ended, Robin was disappointed, but knew that she needed to help Barack...Over the last several weeks, Robin has held a Unite for Change House Meeting where Hillary supporters got a chance to clear the air and move forward. She has made hundreds of calls to Hillary supporters from the primary, and my friends, I have never seen so many undecideds turn into supporters in my life. Robin is essentially single-handedly unifying her area of Toledo. Several days ago Robin got 5 Hillary supporters from the primary to come to the office, she trained them on Unity calls (as she calls them), and had a three hour Unite for Change phone bank.Robin...has been an inspiration to me, by helping ensure that Democrats will be united to make history in November. And thank goodness the primaries are over, so I get to work with the wonderful Hillary supporters like Robin.
